Thank you for making a difference in the life of a child.

You still have time to donate and use your donation as a tax credit on your 2010 Arizona taxes.

Arizona state law has changed effective January 1, 2011. The new state law A.R.S. 43-1089(G) allows donations made through April 15th to count toward the prior tax year at the election of the donor, starting with tax year 2010. This gives you time to find out exactly what your state tax liability is and make an informed choice. Do you want to give the money to the state government for general use at their discretion, or to Shepherd of the Desert Education Foundation to help support children with financial need to continue to attend the school of their choice?

In this difficult economy, your donation will actually help Arizona’s educational costs. In Arizona, it costs about $9,500, counting all sources of funding (local, state, and federal), to educate a child in the public school system. State tax donations fund private tuition costs of students with the average tax credit scholarship approximately $2,000. The difference, $7,500 per student, is an effective savings to taxpayers.

If you have not made a tax credit donation for 2010, or want to add to your donation (if you have not donated the maximum of $1,000 for joint filers or $500 for single filers), you still have time. Click on the Donate button to donate by credit or debit card. If you prefer, mail your check to SOTDEF at 9590 E. Shea Blvd, Scottsdale, AZ 85260. We will provide a receipt for tax year 2010 for your tax records.
